Bond is a UK membership body for organisations working in international development or supporting those that do through funding, research, training and other services.
United by a common goal to eradicate global poverty, Bond promotes, supports and represents the work and interests of these UK/international development organisations. We were briefed with the honourable task of redesigning their website, giving a major overhaul of their online experience.
Bond represents over 450 organisations, promising easy access to important content on the website to each of them. One of the biggest challenges that Bond experienced previous to the redesign was exactly that. The online experience watered down the grand mission that Bond stands for, so we looked at combining intuitive navigation with intelligent design to help present the content in the best possible light.
Bond as a resource houses a multitude of content, and this content required the flexibility to be presented in a variety of ways, once again signalling the importance of the website UX.
As a member-led, community-focused organisation, the user experience of the website redesign was at the heart of our thinking. It was important in our design that each page was intuitive, not only to the user, but to the Bond team managing the content behind the scenes – making uploading and editing as easy as it would be to find when published. A modular approach to the various sections provided complete flexibility.
The basis of the website design was presenting the content in the most informative, beautiful and inspiring way. The user experience was central to the project, providing Bond with the tools needed to be able to ensure maximum membership retention through a first-class experience of the website. The design was built responsively, allowing members to access the content on desktop, tablet and mobile.
